The Smart Lock Platform Built for Lock Manufacturers

KoreLock is a US-based smart lock technology platform that turns a manufacturer's electronic locks into connected BLE and Wi-Fi smart locks. We supply every layer (embedded firmware, PCBAs, reader hardware, cloud, white-label apps, APIs and factory test tools), fitted to your lock rather than forcing your lock to fit our board. Most partners go from project start to production-ready in about six months.

POWERING SMART LOCKS FOR LOCK MANUFACTURERS AND ACCESS CONTROL PLATFORMS

What is a smart lock platform?

A smart lock platform is everything between your mechanical lock and your customer's phone. A working Bluetooth prototype is about 10% of the job. The other 90% is what keeps tens of thousands of locks secure, updated and online for years. A complete platform has ten layers:

  1. Embedded lock hardware: PCBAs designed for battery life and multiple radios

  2. Reader hardware: keypads, NFC and card readers, QR scanners

  3. Lock firmware: credentials, schedules, power management

  4. Cloud infrastructure: a digital twin for every device

  5. Credential ecosystem: PINs, cards, mobile keys and wallet credentials

  6. Device and cloud security: secure boot, encryption, authentication

  7. OTA update management: signed updates, staged rollouts, rollback protection

  8. Partner integration APIs: documented, versioned cloud-to-cloud interfaces

  9. White-label web and mobile apps: under your brand, with your customers

  10. Factory tooling and QA: flash stations and test jigs for your contract manufacturer

KoreLock covers all ten. Most alternatives cover four or five and leave the rest to you.

This list is the conservative version. It doesn't count regulatory certification (FCC, CE, UL, Bluetooth qualification, and now cybersecurity requirements like the EU's RED), which is mandatory, slow, and its own specialty. It doesn't count the lifecycle tooling around the fleet: installer commissioning, support diagnostics, secure decommissioning. And it doesn't count the subscription billing and plan-management machinery you'll need if recurring revenue is part of your plan, which it should be. We stopped at ten layers because this overview has to stop somewhere. But rest assured, KoreLock handles all of this and more.

Customized to your lock

We don't sell one board and ask you to redesign around it. Our engineers adapt the firmware and design the PCBA for your housing, motor, keypad and power budget. That is why lever locks, deadbolts, mortise locks, narrow stile locks, exit trim, edge controllers, cabinet locks and gates all run on the same platform.

What you get

Connectivity

BLE for local control; patented Wi-Fi direct connectivity to the cloud with no hub or gateway.

Credentials

Mobile keys; permanent, temporary and algorithmic PINs; NFC and cards; web credentials; wallet credentials through partners.

Offline operation

Algorithmic PINs and mobile keys that work when the lock is offline.

Security

Secure boot, signed OTA with rollback protection, Common Criteria EAL 6+ secure element, mutual TLS with per-device X.509 certificates, encrypted BLE.

Cloud

US-based AWS (SOC 2-compliant infrastructure); dedicated AWS IoT instance available.

Apps

Fully white-label iOS and Android apps, plus a white-label web app for managing locks at scale.

Integrations

Cloud-to-cloud APIs for PMS, access control and building systems.

Manufacturing

Factory flash and QA test systems.

Who it's for

  • Lock manufacturers launching Wi-Fi and BLE versions of their electronic locks.

  • Specialty lock hardware makers taking lockers, cabinet locks and gates connected.

  • Software and access control companies that want their own branded lock offering, white-labeled from our partners' KoreLock-powered locks, with a reliable API behind it.

Built for the long tail

Shared platforms are built around commodity and smart-home scale. KoreLock's ten layers are already built and shared across many products, so a 5,000–50,000-unit niche product is viable. That's the business we're built for.

Frequently asked questions

  • The firmware, hardware, cloud, apps, security and APIs that turn an electronic lock into a connected product you can sell, update and support at scale.

  • Typically about six months from project start to production-ready. About 75% of that is new board design and prototyping, 25% is firmware customization.

  • Plan on 2 to 4 years to reach production-stable. A prototype takes a few months; OTA, cloud, apps and factory tooling take the rest.

  • Yes. All three apps (iOS, Android and the web management app) are fully white-label, so your end users are your customers, not ours.

  • On KoreLock-operated AWS in the US. A dedicated AWS IoT instance is available for isolation, compliance or data residency.

  • No. Our patented Wi-Fi technology connects the lock directly to existing Wi-Fi while preserving battery life. BLE handles local control.
